Collective Inspirations
Expression is such an exciting, dangerous, revealing, and horrifying thing. Yet, it’s something I can’t survive without…
Blairstreet Collective is my way of putting a name to the way I see, hear, and feel the world. Which I know I am not the first person to walk through the world this way, but it’s at least my attempt to return the favor to all the ways the world has shown me what art is.
Which takes us to me I guess. I’m Maximilian, this is what I do.
The sounds of my life started, even before I remember them. My mom picked up a microphone in Nashville before she even knew my name. She always said she knew I was destined to meet her, but it was a long time after her days on tour that I showed up. Dad was a drummer and a mechanic his entire life, so I guess an artist with his hands through and through. They met in a band, one the rhythmic foundation of the sound of my life and one the upfront microphone that moved a crowd. Really set my stage. I picked up sticks before I could even walk, I’ll probably die holding them.
The world looks so different for me then what everything and everyone around tells me how to see it. Spray off a wave, wind of rolled down highway windows, smell of motor oil burning in a bike, the nerve pricking of western grass, it's everywhere, yet most people I know don’t see it. Capturing it all has been a journey and an addicting challenge each day. The debate of analog over digital feels hollow. They’re both just ways to show dry eyes something they’ve maybe never seen. Seen around them, seen of themselves, or seen in themselves.
So how do I tell you what Blairstreet Collective is?
Blairstreet Collective is me.
